DARK COLOUR

At the beginning of each season, you have to decide which team you play for. This time is super easy - you're either a girly girl and go for the feminine trends, like pastels and mid-century inspired clothes, or you play for the opponent team. That means dark colours, punk style clothes and lots and lots of menswear.

There's no need to tell you, which team I choose. I'm sure you already guessed. While browsing ASOS.com I saw this shirt dress and fell in love with its dark goth look, though I'm not sure it will work in my advantage, because of its loose straight cut. Either way, it will be perfect for the summer's end.

90s IN RED AND BLACK

Last week-end while google-ing "Juergen Teller", I came across this amazing editorial he did for I-D Magazine back in the 90s. It's starring sexy model and actress Amber Valetta, wearing minimal 90s dresses carefully selected for her by stylist Camilla Nickerson.

GO-SEES

According to Urban Dictionary, a go-see is when a model is sent by her agency to meet with one of their clients: a photographer, a designer, etc. It's basically like an audition.

Between 1998 and 1999, photographer Juergen Teller received hundreds of models at his studio for various castings and photographed each and every one of them. Later on, these fashion images were published all together into a conceptual art photography book called "Go-Sees".

I'd love to get my hands on a copy, and see all photos. I was able to find some images on tumblr and pinterest, and what's interesting to see is how these girls presented themselves to their first audition. Eventually, some of them got really famous (like Shalom Harlow) and others, most probably never made past the initial photo-shoot.

FOR THE WEEK-END

Can't think of better inspiration for the week-end than Courtney Love's dress, which is actually a chemise de nuit. It's comfortable, sexy and definitely cool. Wear it with flat sandals or Converse shoes and don't forget to put on some jewelry, otherwise you will actually look as if you just came out of bed - or going to bed. If you think it's too revealing, finish the look with an army style shirt.

Here are some chemises, I mean dresses, I selected for you:

1. Elle Macpherson Black Chemise with white lace
2. La Perla - trimmed silk - blend satin chemise
3. Elle Macpherson White chemise
4. Kiki de Montparnasse - black chemise
5. Calvin Klein purple chemise

THE NEW LACE

There are certain garments that make you scream "Oh my god, I have to buy it...now!!" It was the case of this H&M skirt. A month ago, while styling for the Tiger.Watermelon project, I used one from their Showroom for an outfit. I know you couldn't actually see it, because in the end we chose a different picture, but here it is now!

Last week, the collection finally hit stores, so I ran to get one for myself. I was lucky to find the last one in my size (you can imagine the joy of buying it was even bigger). It has a very Rihanna - 90s vibe and I absolutely love it! I styled it with the crop top, just to show you another look inspired by the Resort trends, but it can be just as cool with a loose T-shirt and a nice pair of Converse shoes or a denim shirt. It's very versatile and I have a feeling it will be my favourite item for this summer!

CASUAL STYLE

A few days ago, I was flipping through old pictures and realized that the last time I wore espadrilles was in 1998. "15 years ago?!"  I thought, "Fashion sure has its mysterious ways!". They were green, with a thick sole and of course, from my point of view, they were the coolest shoes ever. I don't remember what happened to them, but I'm pretty sure I wore them until they fell apart. That's what I usually do if I find a nice comfortable pair of shoes.

One and a half decades later, these Toni Pons espadrilles stole my heart. It was love at first sight and I haven't stopped wearing them since! Last time I wore them with my ASOS Elgin Jeans and a checked shirt. Simple, chic and comfortable!

BLACK SHIRT AND SHORTS

Last week-end, during our small fashion discussion, my friend Irina told me: " Each year, I need some time to get used to wearing shorts again in the city, you know what I mean?" "Ohh I totally get you!" I said. "I always associate them with a holiday at the seaside". When you live in a city where people wear a suit every morning on their way to work, strutting down the streets in shorts may seem out of place at first. But once school ends, all girls take out their holiday wardrobe and the streetstyle fashion changes overnight. You look around and you see shorts everywhere, in all styles- denim, printed, shorter, longer, high waisted, low waisted - you name it!

I got this pair last year from H&M and I love that they are more elegant than the usual summer shorts. Very easy to match (also because they're black), you can wear them in different styles. I matched them with a black shirt and to give the outfit a 90s vibe, I added a grunge style shirt and finished the look with white sandals.

STYLING CHALLENGE

Two weeks ago, Silvia and Raluca from Bucharest Style challenged me and other four bloggers to style these shorts from TeX's Carrefour summer 2013 collection. Each of us was supposed to create an outfit which reflected her own syle, using the same garment. I chose to pair them with with a crop top and white sandals, in order to create a chic 90s look. On top, I wore a denim vest from H&M men's section, just to get a masculine touch.
Now go to my facebook page and like the picture, so I can win the challenge!

KITSCH ON THE BEACH

I like the idea of going to the beach, but once there I instantly loose my patience: it's way too hot and time seems to pass at different speed. All my friends love to tan, an activity which I find incredibly boring, therefore I act like a 5 year old hyperactive kid. You may wonder, why am I writing about swimsuits? Well, each year, I buy two or three new bathing suits (it doesn't make sense, I know).

This season, the super kitsch 90s style swimsuits got my attention - flamingos, neon colors, roses, and penguins, what can you ask for more? So here there are, specially selected for you, the craziest and most funky swimsuits for the summer:
1. American Apparel Stripe Tricot V Swimsuit
3. Freak of Nature Galatic Rose Body Suit
8. We Are Handsome Penguin Scoop Swimsuit

It's been two months (I think?!) since I wore this super 90s outfit, which got featured in the Grand Magazine's first issue. Check out more of it on their website and read the lovely interview with the Absolutely Fabulous girls!

CANADIAN TUXEDO

My fascination for matching denim shirts with jeans started somewhere in 2010 when I bought my first denim shirt. I clearly remember why I got for: it was meant to match, at the time, my brand new beige harem pants.   It took a while to find the perfect blue wash and shape, but in the end I got an oversized light blue shirt. As for the denim-on-denim mania, it started by accident, during one of those "I-don't-know-what-to-wear" moments when you just grab the first thing you see from the closet. Even though the fashion rules were stricly against the "canadian tuxedo", the combination felt cool and comfortable. It had the je ne sais quoi feel, so I thought - "It can't be wrong".

After three years, now I have a closet full of denim, and as I promised, I'm challenging Miss Britney for a "Who wore it better" duel:

As for the rules for wearing denim on denim without looking too retro, it's easy: you need to find a shirt and jeans that have a similar wash. If you're afraid you're gonna get it  wrong you can just wear a blue denim shirt with black or white jeans.
