GAME ON!

The 2012 Olympic Games had a strong impact on fashion trends and reintroduced sportswear as everyday wear. We started talking again about leggings and sweatshirts, and New Balance shoes became a must-have. We invented the "sports luxe" term and we can't get enough of it! We wear sweatshirts with statement necklaces, Adidas track pants with high heels and trainers with cocktail dresses!

And since the sports luxe trend is so lively, it deserved a fun location for a photoshoot - the stadium!

H&M AUTUMN 2013 COLLECTION

I must confess, when I arrived at the H&M Showroom for the Preview event of its Autumn 2013 collection, I didn't expect it will turn into a real party. The DJ was playing the latest Daft Punk song, cocktails were rolling at the bar, everybody was having a good time and of course, the clothes were stunning!

The collection was breathtaking, combining masculine and feminine style, which created an overall theatrical atmosphere. The jackets had a geometrical shape and some were embellished with bohemian elements, while the dresses had a delicate cut. The key pieces of the collection were the tail coat and the sequin dress, the black leather trousers, and the bohemian style vest. The accessories were vintage inspired, the over-the-knee boots and the cap strongly reminded me of Brigitte Bardot.

I especially liked the dark colours of the collection: black, khaki, navy blue, with subtle red and metallic touches. The fabrics were very high-quality - wool, cotton, velvet, jersey, fake fur, leather and silk, giving a luxurious look to the clothes.

Starting the 5th of September, the collection will be available in over 200 H&M selected stores and also online. And that's not it - they will also release a Home Decor line here in Romania.

One more thing - this morning H&M announced its autumn collaboration with Parisian designer Isabel Marant! I nearly fell off my chair when I read about it!

LIKE A BOY

There's something incredibly seductive about men's fashion. Boyfriend jeans, shirts or T-shirts, they look so cool if you know how to wear them.

The key to style menswear clothes is to have a good balance between the feminine and the masculine pieces. Choose wisely and if you feel your look is too boyish, make it more feminine, by adding a pair of high heels. It always works, no matter what you wear.

The jeans, the T-shirt and the white top are from H&M Man.

You can find all the clothes and accessories I used for styling this editorial at H&M and H&M Man (except from the sandals, which are from Zara's last season collection).

TREND CHALLENGE: BLACK AND WHITE

Less-is-more this spring.  We can all agree on that. And the unpretentious black & white trend definitely belongs in this category. Easy to wear and appropiate for most occasions, it can save you a lot of trouble if you don't know what to wear. It actually looks best when you keep it as a minimal as possible, and no one will blame you if you don't wear any accessories with it. Just make sure you go for a sharp structured silhouette, in order to avoid a boring look. Match a well-cut jacket with a fitted pencil skirt or get a structured top and wear it with skinny jeans. Make sure it's made of a good quality fabric, an essential rule when it comes to style a minimal outfit and that it looks good on you. I paired a black bodycon dress from French Connection with a voluminous white trench from Zara. If you want to go bold, finish the look with a neon bag.

If you like classic timeless pieces, the b&w trend should be on the top of your list this season. Get a pair of white jeans or trousers, that you can easily adapt to new trends. For example : Last year I bought the white pallazo pants and wore them with a mint green top. This time, I put on a striped shirt, which gave the entire look a fresh new perspective. You can also try matching them with a black V-neck blouse or with a black crop top and a jacket.

There are infinite possibilities for styling the b&w trend and if you pick carefully, you can build a modern and glamorous wardrobe. You don't have to invest much in it, and rest assured the pieces you buy will not get out of fashion any time soon.

Third look: top and jacket from H&M, leather skirt from ASOS.

CANADIAN TUXEDO

My fascination for matching denim shirts with jeans started somewhere in 2010 when I bought my first denim shirt. I clearly remember why I got for: it was meant to match, at the time, my brand new beige harem pants.   It took a while to find the perfect blue wash and shape, but in the end I got an oversized light blue shirt. As for the denim-on-denim mania, it started by accident, during one of those "I-don't-know-what-to-wear" moments when you just grab the first thing you see from the closet. Even though the fashion rules were stricly against the "canadian tuxedo", the combination felt cool and comfortable. It had the je ne sais quoi feel, so I thought - "It can't be wrong".

After three years, now I have a closet full of denim, and as I promised, I'm challenging Miss Britney for a "Who wore it better" duel:

As for the rules for wearing denim on denim without looking too retro, it's easy: you need to find a shirt and jeans that have a similar wash. If you're afraid you're gonna get it  wrong you can just wear a blue denim shirt with black or white jeans.

& OTHER STORIES

Other stories about what? Fashion, of course. Last week while browsing Instagram this image of a website pops-up on my newsfeed - the titles was catchy " & other stories" and the clean and simple layout seemed promising. I had to check it! One hour and a half later I was texting my friend to tell her " You have to check this store when you'll travel next week!!!!"

Then I remembered how it was like seven years ago when travelling also included going to that one store you always checked online, but you couldn't buy anything from. Well now it happened again! So what is it about? With Scandi-chic designs, mostly edgy shoes, statement accessories and sculpted silhouettes, you can only think of one brand. Yes, you got it right! & other stories is the latest line and concept store from H&M.

And since they only opened in a few countries and they don't ship to Romania (hopefully that will change soon), I made a long list of things for my friend to buy for me. On the top of that list it was this white simple, but chic and versatile polo shirt perfect for a warm summer day.

SPORTY CHIC

It's that time of the year when everyone thinks of summer and vacations and since I make no exception, I decided to put together a couple of sporty chic looks, perfect for a summer holiday. I wanted to keep the looks simple, without any accessories, just to give them a relaxed and comfortable feeling and to spice things up, I mixed neon colours with black and white.

First look : top and shorts H&M
Second look: black dress French Connection and H&M Divided trainers
Third look: orange crop top H&M
4th and 5th looks: cap, top, shirt and shorts from H&M, leather skirt from ASOS, and black sweater from Benetton.
