TOP 5 RESORT TRENDS

This summer, like never before, I got very excited about the Resort collections, so I decided to do a top 5 Resort trends that I particulary like and that I'm gonna try on for the upcoming 5 days! Yes, yes, you heard me! I am going to style and wear Resort inspired looks for 5 days in a row, so make sure to keep on eye on The Stunning Look!

1. Bermuda Pants: Or as I like to call them, the chic and sophisticated version of the summer short.

2. Crop Tops: Designers can't get enough of them!

3. White Shoes: White shoes instead of the regular classic black shoes.

4. Ruffles: Resort collections were full of ruffles - on tops, dresses, trousers and of course, skirts!

5. Nautical Theme: Dark blue and stripes are back.

TREND CHALLENGE: FLORAL PRINTS

There is something incredibly feminine about floral prints. Seen this season in different styles, from Prada's graphic flowers to Dries van Noten's grunge prints, the floral trend somehow managed to stay present on SS13's catwalks. In the end, it's spring we are talking about.

For the Trend Challenge, I decided to use masculine elements, such as the buttoned up white shirt and pin-thin pants, in contrast with the feminine flower print on the jumper and the stilettos. To finish the look, I used a boldly printed bag, which gives an unexpected and playful accent to the entire outfit, and the sparkling oversized bracelets.

The flower jumper is from Zara Man, pants H&M, bag Zara, bracelet Marni for H&M, shoes London Rebel.

TREND CHALLENGE: BLACK AND WHITE

Less-is-more this spring.  We can all agree on that. And the unpretentious black & white trend definitely belongs in this category. Easy to wear and appropiate for most occasions, it can save you a lot of trouble if you don't know what to wear. It actually looks best when you keep it as a minimal as possible, and no one will blame you if you don't wear any accessories with it. Just make sure you go for a sharp structured silhouette, in order to avoid a boring look. Match a well-cut jacket with a fitted pencil skirt or get a structured top and wear it with skinny jeans. Make sure it's made of a good quality fabric, an essential rule when it comes to style a minimal outfit and that it looks good on you. I paired a black bodycon dress from French Connection with a voluminous white trench from Zara. If you want to go bold, finish the look with a neon bag.

If you like classic timeless pieces, the b&w trend should be on the top of your list this season. Get a pair of white jeans or trousers, that you can easily adapt to new trends. For example : Last year I bought the white pallazo pants and wore them with a mint green top. This time, I put on a striped shirt, which gave the entire look a fresh new perspective. You can also try matching them with a black V-neck blouse or with a black crop top and a jacket.

There are infinite possibilities for styling the b&w trend and if you pick carefully, you can build a modern and glamorous wardrobe. You don't have to invest much in it, and rest assured the pieces you buy will not get out of fashion any time soon.

Third look: top and jacket from H&M, leather skirt from ASOS.

TREND CHALLENGE: CROP TOP

The crop top trend seen this season at: Balenciaga, Victoria Beckham, 3.1 PHILLIP LIM, Balmain, Carven and Louis Vuitton.

A challenge this season I couldn't miss: the crop top. I actually can't wait for a warm summer day in order to wear it and not just to style it for a photo. Until then I'll leave you with this as an inspiration.

The crop top will be back on the blog for sure this spring! Stay tuned for more 90s inspired fashion!

TREND CHALLENGE: GRUNGE

The grunge trend seen this season at Dries Van Noten, Alexander Wang and Rodarte.

A layer on top of a layer on top of another layer and so on. That's the key to a good grunge inspired outfit. Also keeping the outfit chic and stylish will be a must. You wouldn't want to look as if you took the time machine back in '94 and ended up in 2013.

I'm wearing a Kookai coat, Mango denim jacket, and an H&M bag and shirt (find a similar one here).

BLACK AND WHITE STRIPES

The black and white stripes trend seen this season at: Marc Jacobs, Balmain, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta.

It's funny to talk about it as the new trend in fashion, when in fact there's nothing new about it. "Invented" by Coco Chanel almost 100 years ago, the striped top is now a classic. I would say it's one of the must-haves for this spring. It will also be a good investment piece, since it will not go out of fashion.

I got mine from Zara and the leather skirt is from ASOS.

TREND CHALLENGE: A SHIRT TIED AROUND THE WAIST

Did somebody say 90s revival? Oh yes! Who would have thought the ugly trends will be back in fashion? Really? And the funny thing is, I am really excited about the whole 90s revival and I'm sure you are too (or you will soon be). Now, let's see - skirt on top of pants - checked! ugly shoes - checked! crop top - still searching for the right one, shirt tied around the waist - checked!

I'm wearing a top and jeans from Zara, denim jacket from Mango, and a shirt from H&M Men (find a similar one here).

TREND CHALLENGE: GOTHIC

Since autumn is knocking at our door, I decided it's time for something new: for my wardrobe and my blog. Then I got this crazy idea of doing a trend challenge each month. I will be styling all of this season's trends according to my style and hopefully inspire you guys!
Trend challenge number 1: Gothic, which is for now my favorite. I chose a peplum leather top and paired it with leather skinny jeans, some studded sandals and lot's of metal accessories for a more punk-goth look.
